Driver Experience - Terms and Conditions

  • Driver Experience Courses are offered by the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway, subject to any operational constraints on the day.
  • The SILVER Steam Experience course is run subject to a minimum of at least three courses being booked in advance on any day.
  • The GOLD Steam Experience course is run subject to a requirement that two courses are booked in advance on any day.
  • In the event of booked courses not being available due to the circumstances given above, Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway will seek to offer an alternative course of equal or greater value at a mutually convenient time and date. If this is not possible, a full refund of the fee will be made.
  • A deposit of 20% of the booking fee is required at the time of reservation, unless this is within 28 days of the date of the course, when the full amount must be remitted.
  • The balance of all fees must be paid a minimum of 28 days in advance of commencing the course. In the event of a candidate canceling a booked course, a minimum of 28 days' notice is required for the refund of the fee, less £10 administration charge. If less than 28 days' notice is given, Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway reserves the right to retain the fee if the course cannot be reallocated.
  • Candidates must be a minimum age of 18 years to undertake a course.
  • Candidates must be in a physically fit condition, to undertake a course.
  • Candidates are required to attend a 'Safety briefing' on joining the course and prior to boarding the locomotive.
  • Candidates must ensure that they are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including prescribed medicines, on the day of the course and will be required to sign a safety notice to that effect. At the commencement of the course 'Safety briefing', candidates will not be permitted to continue the course, if there is any doubt as to the candidates fitness as specified above. If in doubt, candidates should consult their medical practitioner for advice.
  • Candidates must wear Safety Footwear and appropriate protective clothing as specified when booking.
  • Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway, at its absolute discretion, retains the right to refuse access to the footplate to any candidate without notice or justification. In such an event, the course fee will be refunded in full.
  • Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway, reserves the right to refuse to cancel or postpone these courses at its absolute discretion.
